When a family disagrees with a school district's evaluation, they have the right to an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE). I provide timely, readable, evidence-based reading and dyslexia IEEs your clients can rely on in IEP meetings and disputes — objective findings, with recommendations written to be understood by parents and educators alike.

How it works:
Evaluations are conducted by telehealth with a focused, standardized battery (two to three measures) and a testing session under two hours. A clinical interview and a feedback session are included, and the written report is delivered in 10 business days.

- Written declaration, affidavit, or rebuttal report — $350 per hour
- IEP / 504 / mediation meeting attendance — $300 per hour, portal to portal
- Deposition and due process hearing testimony — $450 per hour; half day $1,800, full day $3,600 minimum
- Forensic surcharge — evaluation performed within a retained or due-process-bound engagement: +20% of the evaluation fee
- Travel for in-person appearance — $150 per hour plus actual expenses
Retained-expert work is billed hourly against an advance retainer. A $2,000 retainer is required for testimony, with cancellation within 5 business days non-refundable. Unused retainer balances are refunded. Forensic time is not billed to insurance and no superbill is issued.
Working together
Records review first. Where it isn't yet clear whether a full independent evaluation is warranted, a records review and written critique at $750 flat will usually tell you — and sometimes tells you the district's evaluation was adequate. That answer is worth having early.
Criteria confirmation. Licensed in Oregon (#2154) and Washington (#PY61540899). Portland business office in Multnomah County and a Washington office. Not employed by any school district. W-9, certificate of professional liability insurance, curriculum vitae, and a sample de-identified report available on request.
Turnaround. Response within 2 business days. Written report within 10 business days of the final testing session and receipt of all rating scales.
